About the service

Need someone to check a used car in Thailand?

That’s exactly what we do. SiamCarMate is a professional team for used-car inspection and car sourcing in Thailand. For over 3 years we’ve worked in the Thai used-car market, inspected 2,053 cars and helped 520 buyers get a car they’re happy with.

A certified automotive engineer comes to the car anywhere in Greater Bangkok. They check its real technical condition: paint thickness across the whole body, hidden accident repairs, flood damage and signs of rolled-back mileage. We’re independent: we don’t sell cars and work only for the buyer. Inspections start from ฿3,000.

Frequently asked questions

About the service
01How much does a used car inspection in Bangkok cost?

A standard 100 checkpoint inspection is ฿3,000. The extended inspection, with computer diagnostics and a check on a lift at a service centre, is ฿4,500. Both include an English report within 24 hours.

02Can you inspect a car without me being there?

Yes. Most of our clients aren’t present at the inspection. Everything we find is in the report, with photos of every finding.

03Do you talk to the seller yourselves?

Yes. We contact the dealership or private seller in Thai and arrange the inspection time. You don’t need to call anyone.

04What if the car turns out to have problems?

That’s the best possible outcome: you spent ฿3,000 instead of hundreds of thousands of baht repairing a car that had been in a major accident or a flood. Your inspection of the next car is discounted.

05Which cars do you inspect?

Any vehicle up to 11 seats in Greater Bangkok. For luxury cars, sports cars or remote districts, ask us first.

06What’s included in the report?

A paint thickness map of every panel, photos of every finding, OBD2 fault codes, test drive results, a check of the blue book against the car, the car’s listing history from our database, a verdict and a price recommendation.

07Where does the car’s history come from?

We run our own database of the Thai used-car market covering several years: past listings, asking prices, odometer readings and auction sales.

Ask us
Buying a car in Thailand as a foreigner
01Can a foreigner buy a car in Thailand?

Yes, in your own name, with no restriction by nationality. To register it you usually need a certificate of residence from Immigration or your embassy, or a work permit.

02What documents does a foreigner need to buy a car?

A passport with a valid visa, a certificate of residence (or work permit), and — for a used car — a correctly executed blue book transfer from the seller.

03What are the risks of buying a used car in Thailand?

Hidden flood damage, cars rebuilt after major accidents with structural repairs, rolled-back odometers, cars still financed by a bank, and sellers who aren’t the registered owner.

04What is a blue book (เล่มทะเบียน)?

The vehicle registration book — the main document proving ownership. We check that the blue book matches the car on every inspection.

05Can a foreigner buy a car on finance in Thailand?

Yes, some Thai banks lend to foreigners who hold a work permit. Terms and rates vary, and a Thai guarantor is often required.
